General Information *DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING PARTICIPATION PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN TIMES FOR PRESENTATIONS* Join NYSOTA for our annual Advocacy Day, Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Empire State Plaza, Meeting Room 7. Each year NYSOTA furthers our legislative efforts by making our presence known and reaching out and working with key legislators on topics that affect OT practice in New York State.Last year over 200 practitioners, supporters and students participated in Advocacy Day. Advocacy Day will begin at 10:00AM in Meeting Room 7 with a presentation from NYSOTA's Legislative & Governmental Relations Chair, Jeff Tomlinson. The presentation times are as follows based on those who pre-regsitered: Mercy College 35 9:00 AM Jeff will provide participants with highlights of the current budget, our legislative efforts and focus, and other information to help inform and prepare participants to speak with their elected officials. Lunch will not be provided but there are several local eateries within walking distance of the LOB. Registration There is no cost to attend, but we do ask that you RSVP so we know how many people we should plan for.You may RSVP HERE. Transportation & Parking Schools or large groups who will be arriving via bus will need to drop participants off and move to the OGS parking lot on McCarty Avenue. There is no bus parking at the Empire State Plaza. The McCarty Avenue Lot, off Thruway Exit 23, reserves parking for buses dropping off groups at the Empire State Plaza. Bus parking is free of charge; reservations are not required. Parking information for other participants can be found on the OGS website HERE. Making Appointments Participants should plan to make their own appointments with their elected representatives. You can find your representative HERE. Talking points and NYSOTA's position statements will be posted online prior to Advocacy Day. A limited number of folders containing this information will be provided for those who have secured appointments with their elected representatives.
