The Hudson-Taconic District of the New York State Occupational Therapy Association announces the availability of scholarship monies for qualified students. To qualify for a scholarship, students must:

• Be currently enrolled in an Occupational Therapy program leading to an Associate,  Masters Degree or Doctoral Degree;
• Have successfully completed the Occupational Therapy curriculum as follows:
  • First year of Associate Degree;
  • Accrued 50 percent of credits towards a Masters or Doctoral Degree;
• Have a permanent address within the Hudson-Taconic District, which includes the counties of Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster.

If a student does not meet all of these criteria, he / she will not be considered.

Applicants should be a member of an Occupational Therapy professional association and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.  Consideration is given to community and professional involvement, academic excellence, personal maturity, professional commitment and financial need.

Each applicant must submit a completed application packet including three references to the Scholarship Committee Chairperson.  References will be submitted by the student in a sealed envelope.  At least one reference must come from one of the student’s professors and must include a notation about the student’s academic standing (GPA).

Deadline for receipt of all materials is December 14, 2011.  Recipients will be notified of the award during the month of January.
