An Activity Based Approach to Facilitating Self-Regulation, Problem Solving and Interpersonal Skills with Heidi MacAlpine & Michele Gentile

At the completion of this course attendees will learn: 1. The benefits of specific breathing techniques, self-applied deep pressure and seated yoga positions for emotional self-regulation through practice of various techniques. 2. They will learn and apply the "Coach Approach" for wellness self-management for clients with mental health challenges. 3. They will learn and practice activities for developing and improving interpersonal skills. 

Falls Prevention for Hospitalized Older Adults: What the Evidence Tells Us and How to Make it Happen with Jeannine Nonaillada

 At the completion of this session, attendees will learn: 1. How to comprehend relevant and recent literature about risk factors and prevention of falls in older adults.  2. Identify and utilize screening, assessment and intervention tools for falls prevention in the hospital setting.  3. Articulate the distinct role of occupational therapy practitioners for preventing falls in hospitalized older adults. 

Preparing the New Generation of Professionals: For Coursework, Fieldwork and Beyond with Lisa Hubbs

When someone attends this presentation, they will learn: 1. How students entering college in their twenties learn differently from students who are older.  2. How students entering college in their twenties think differently from students who are older.   3. Become familiar with a new tool to foster clinical reasoning and overall professionalism to use with students prior to, while on, and following Level II fieldwork.
