Dept. of Health Releases Rehab Guidelines
The New York State Department of Health has developed guidelines for occupational therapy and physical therapy services under Medicaid. The guidelines apply to most hospital, out-patient clinics, OMRDD programs and cerebral palsy centers. NYSOTA and the AOTA are reviewing the guidelines and preparing suggested changes.
The guidelines include definitions of duplicate services, restorative, "long-term therapy services," maintenance therapy and rehabilitation potential. The guidelines also outline coverage criteria and documentation requirements. A copy of the guidelines can be found at:
NYSOTA would welcome any feedback regarding these guidelines. Please submit comments to legislation@nysota.org
