Exploring Your OT Niche Through Applied Theatre
David Melchionne-Martinez, MA, COTA/L

Come join David Melchionne-Martinez for an evening of exploration, story telling, and reflection through applied theatre (don't worry, you will NOT have to act/perform). David will discuss how he found his OT niche by combining his love of theatre with his passion for OT. We will explore how you can do the same with your passions, and we will reflect on the implications of these explorations for the future of occupational therapy.

It is no secret that the field of occupational therapy has been rapidly changing over the past several years. This presentation will focus on how we, as trained adaptors, can morph our profession into new practice areas that reflect the rich tapestry of its practitioners.

In this presentation, participants will:
  • learn about applied theatre and its uses and applications for occupational therapy
  • explore their interests, passions, and talents and reflect/discuss how to apply them to occupational therapy
  • learn theatrical techniques for use in clinical/educational settings
