A Strength-Based Paradigm for Occupational Therapy

This course will provide an overview of a strength-based practice frame of reference from assessment to intervention to research that draws on the best of what occupational therapy is and can be as we serve a diverse population.

Following this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • translate research findings on strength-based interventions, resilience and self-determination into a strength-based practice
  • understand how professional biases and our education may impact the utilization of a strength-based approach
  • re-frame the role of occupational therapy as central to using a strength-based approach as part of our unique value to the clients we serve
