Announcing the Availability of the Transition Responsibilities in the EIP Training in a Live Online Course Format

The Department is pleased to announce the availability of Statewide Early Intervention Program (EIP) training. The Department’s contractor, Measurement Incorporated, has converted the existing Transition curriculum into an interactive web-based training.

The Transition Responsibilities in the EIP course is being offered as a series of live (real-time), interactive online classes in December.

This live class series will be facilitated by Rusty Kindlon of the New York State Early Intervention Program Online Professional Development Center and will include up to 50 participants together in one “virtual classroom” on the WizIQ platform. The live course, composed of three (3) sessions, will only be presented once.

Who should take this course?
The target audience for the Transition Responsibilities in the EIP course includes: service coordinators, parents, and providers. Participants will gain knowledge about the transition process and regulatory requirements related to transitioning children out of the Early Intervention Program. This training reviews all of the service coordinator’s responsibilities related to transition and each of the steps that are part of completing and documenting the transition process for each child.

When will this course be held?
The live class series is being offered one time. It will then be converted into an online, self-paced course that allows participants to take the course at their own pace and at times that are convenient for them. The self-paced Transition Responsibilities in the EIP course is expected to be available in late January 2019.

Below is the schedule for the live class series (you must participate in all three sessions):
Tuesday, December 18 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Wednesday, December 19 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Thursday, December 20 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am

You must participate in all three sessions.
Those who enroll in the live class series, composed of three (3) sessions, must participate in all 3 sessions, in their entirety, in order to be eligible for a certificate of completion for the course.  If you miss one or more of the classes for any reason, you will need to enroll in and complete the self-paced version of the Transition Responsibilities in the EIP
course in its entirety, once it becomes available.

After participating in all 3 live class sessions, learners will also need to complete a post-course training evaluation survey.  Once you have met these requirements, a certificate of completion will be emailed to you by on behalf of the Bureau of Early Intervention.

Technology Required for Participation in Live Classes
To successfully participate in a Live class, you must:

  • Use either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox Internet browsers to enroll and participate in the live classes (Internet Explorer is NOT supported by WizIQ, the online learning management system portal)
  • Have audio capability on your computer (and headphones if appropriate)
  • Have an Internet connection speed of at least 2 Mbps (megabits per second)
To check the speed of your Internet connection, you may go to and click on “Go” in the middle of the page. A test of your Internet speed (download and upload) will be conducted and you will see the results.
