Membership Frequently Asked Questions How much does it cost to be a member of NYSOTA? Believe it or not, being a member of your professional association costs less than $3 a week! Depending on your membership category, dues cost anywhere from $25 (for students) up to $130 (for OTs) for one year of membership. We also have monthly options for members trying to stick to a budget. What are my dues used for? Your dues help pay for legislative representation to be sure that occupational therapy practice in New York is protected. Dues also cover a robust career center, our ability to offer free and significantly discounted continuing education, NYSOTA e-updates and publications, and the Annual NYSOTA Conference (also greatly discounted for members). There have been numerous attempts by other organizations to take pieces of our practice act. NYSOTAs diligence has protected OT practitioners in NYS from encroachment by other professions. We continue to lobby for the licensing of Occupational Therapy Assistants and were instrumental in the passage of required continuing competency. We fight for appropriate reimbursement rates, payments and protection of practice. How do Auto-Renewing memberships work? By choosing an Auto-Renewing membership, you agree to participate in the NYSOTA Dues Auto Renewal program subject to the following terms and conditions which constitute an agreement between you and NYSOTA: By enrolling in the NYSOTA Dues Auto Renewal program, you are authorizing NYSOTA to initiate automatic charges for the full amount of your regularly scheduled dues bill to your credit or debit card. The automatic charge will occur on the due date of your bill as shown on your dues invoice. Payment is due immediately upon issuance of the dues statements. How do I cancel an Auto-Renewing membership? Members may cancel their participation in NYSOTA Auto-Renew and avoid incurring future dues charges by sending notice of cancellation to info@nysota.org no later than five days before the scheduled dues processing date. Notice of cancellation must be communicated by email. Any charges refused by your credit card network, without notice of cancellation, may be subject to returned payment charges. For memberships that auto-renew on a monthly basis, any cancellation will only become effective at the end of the monthly period it was submitted in. No refunds and/or rebates will be paid for any part of the monthly subscription. You also must have a minimum of ten consecutive paid monthly invoices before your cancellation will become effective. For memberships that auto-renew on an annual basis, cancellation will become effective at the end of the annual period it was submitted in. Cancellation that takes place within 14 days after the auto renewal date can still be cancelled, but 20% of the paid renewed membership dues will not be refunded. Cancellation requests after the 14-day period of your renewal date will not be granted. What happens to my Auto-Renewing membership if the credit card on file expires? Should a payment card be declined, for any reason including card expiration, the member will be notified by email and/or by phone by a NYSOTA representative. Auto-Renew and membership will be de-activated until billing information is updated. I let my membership lapse, now what? You can log into your member profile and renew your membership. Your new expiration date will be one year from when you renewed. How do I print a membership card? You may print your membership card through your member profile. Log into the website using your username and password. On the right side, select Manage Profile. Select Membership Card from your Information & Settings menu. How do I access my continuing education credits? Log into the website using your username and password. On the right side, select Manage Profile.
