Membership Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to be a member of NYSOTA?

Believe it or not, being a member of your professional association costs less than $2 a week!

Depending on your membership category, dues cost between $20 (students) and $100(OT's)

What are my dues used for?

Your dues help pay for legislative representation to be sure that occupational therapy practice in New York is protected. Dues also cover a robust career center, our ability to offer free and significantly discounted continuing education, NYSOTA e-updates and publications, and the Annual NYSOTA Conference (also greatly discounted for members).

There have been numerous attempts by other organizations to take pieces of our practice act.  NYSOTAs diligence has protected OT practitioners in NYS from encroachment by other professions. We continue to lobby for the licensing of Occupational Therapy Assistants and were instrumental in the passage of required continuing competency. We fight for appropriate reimbursement rates, payments and protection of practice.

When will my membership expire?

Your membership will expire 365 days from when you join or renew your membership.

I let my membership lapse, now what?

You can log into your member profile and renew your membership. Your new expiration date will be one year from when you renewed.

How do I print a membership card?

You may print your membership card through your member profile. Log into the website using your username and password. On the right side, select Manage Profile. Select Membership Card from your Information & Settings menu.

How do I access my continuing education credits?

Log into the website using your username and password. On the right side, select Manage Profile. If you have received continuing education you will find your transcript under the Content & Features menu under Professional Development.

Can you send me a receipt for my dues or event registration?

You have access to all of your financial transactions in your member profile. You can print receipts and event registrations. Consider negotiating reimbursement for your dues or continuing education events with your employer. An investment in NYSOTA is an investment in your profession, career and education. You may access your invoices by selecting Invoices from your Invoicing, Payments & History menu.
